4-day polio vaccination campaign kicks off in 23 provinces

KABUL (Pajhwok): The Ministry of Public Health (MoPH) says that a 4-day anti-polio vaccination campaign launched on Monday in 23 provinces of the country.

Dr Sharafat Zaman, a spokesman for the MoPH, in a video clip said: “The four-day anti-polio vaccination campaign launched today Monday (July 8) in 23 provinces.”

He said nearly eight million children under the age of vie would be vaccinated in this drive.

“We have not registered any positive polio case in the country this year, of course, there were some positive environmental samples and we are striving to prevent this disease by applying the vaccine,” Zaman added.

In 2023, five positive polio cases have been recovered in Afghanistan.
