KABUL (Pajhwok): National boxing players returned to the country after gaining third spot in the Asian Games, the National Olympic Committee (NOC) said on Wednesday.
On its X page, the NOC wrote three Afghan boxers arrived today morning in the country after securing third position in the Asian Games in Russia. The boxers arrived to a hero’s welcome.
It said Mujtaba Haidari weighing 48 kilograms, Ferdus Najib 75 and Ahmad Ali Malikzada weighting 57kg participated in the competitions.
However, Malikzada was defeated by his Kyrgyzstani opponent, but Haidari and Najib beat their opponents and marched into the semi-final.
In the semifinals, Haidari was defeated by his Azerbaijani rival and Najib by an Uzbekistani, but they won bronze medals.
