KABUL (Pajhwok): Acting Minister of Foreign Affairs Amir Khan Muttaqi says Afghanistan’s relevant entities are working to finalise legal documents and pave the ground for practical work on TAPI gas pipeline project.
He said this at a meeting with the ambassador of Turkmenistan in Kabul, Hoja Ovezov, on Wednesday, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MoFA) said in a statement on Thursday.
The Turkmenistan-Afghanistan-Pakistan-India (TAPI) is a major natural gas project, whose agreement was signed in 2015 in Ashgabat among the member countries.
It said laying of the TAPI pipeline through Afghanistan’s territory, increasing capacity of the Torghundai station and Noor-ul-Jihad sub-station in Herat province came up for discussion.
Muttaqi said Afghanistan’s relevant entities were working to finalise all legal documents of the project and pave the ground for practical work on it.
He added the Afghan side was also working to construct railroad facilities at the Torghundai port.
