KABUL (Pajhwok): A senior member of the Pashtun Tahafuz Movement (PTM) Gilaman Wazir has succumbed to the injuries he suffered in an attack in Islamabad earlier in the week.
Gilaman, known for his progressive poetry, died of his wounds at a hospital in Islamabad on Wednesday night, party sources said.
He was violently assaulted by a group in Islamabad on Sunday evening, July 7. The attack had drawn condemnation from different political circles.
Following the attack, Gilaman was admitted to a hospital in Islamabad in critical condition.
PTM Chairman Manzoor Pashteen confirmed his death in a speech to his supporters outside the hospital, saying all efforts to save his life had failed.
Gilaman will be laid to rest in the Asadkhel area of Razmak district of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province today (Thursday) at 4:00pm.
