MAZAR-I-SHARIF (Pajhwok): Security forces seized 29 weapons and ammunitions in districts and the provincial capital of northern Balkh province during the past three months, an official said on Sunday.
Police spokesman Mohammad Aisa Wasiq told a press conference counter-terrorism police recovered 29 different types of weapons from Mazar-i-sharif, the provincial capital and districts during the last three months.
He said the seized weapons included rockets, machine guns, Kalashnikovs and pistols.
He added two suspects had also been arrested in connection with these weapons.
On the other hand, Atta Mohammad Bilal, director of counter-terrorism at the police headquarters, said they seized 129 different types of weapon in the province last year.
He said about 28 individuals had been detained on the charge of illegally keeping weapons and their cases were handed over to judicial organs.
Bilal asked the people to refrain from illegally keeping weapons and if anyone needed a weapon, they should apply for a legal license.
About 100 suspects were arrested in connection with various crimes since late March.
