Flooding inflicts financial losses on Wardak residents

KABUL (Pajhwok): Unleashed by heavy rains, flash floods destroyed crops on hundreds of acres of land in Daimardad district of central Maidan Wardak province on Saturday night, the Disaster Preparedness Department said on Sunday.

Faizullah Jalali, head of the department, told Pajhwok Afghan News the flash floods roared through residential homes shrtly after 10:30pm last night, but fortunately caused no life losses.

He said the floods washed away crops on hundreds of acres of land in Ahmadkhel, Ormar, Ibrahimzoi, Bakhshak, Ferah, Lashkari villages of Daimardad district.

Jalali added: “The flooding caused approximately 50 meters wall of the health centre to collapse in Ibrahimzoi village. The boundary wall of Ahmanullah’s house also collapsed in Ormar village.”

The flooding also damaged roads and natural streams overflowed.
