Pajhwok’s ex-reporter Salarzai passes away

KABUL (Pajhwok): Khan Wali Salarzai, Pajhwok’s ex-reporter in eastern Kunar province, has passed away, with multiple media outlets expressed their grief over his demise.

After battling his illness for a while, Salarzai passed away last night, his nephew Faridullah Salarzai told Pajhwok Afghan News on Sunday.

The journalist’s funeral is being held today (Sunday) in the Chahar Dara district of northern Kunduz province, according to Faridullah Salarzai.

Apart from working for Pajhwok, Salazai also served as director of the National Radio Television in Kunar province.

Media support outlets such ad Afghanistan’s Journalist Centre (AFJC), Afghanistan Independent Journalists’ Union (AIJU), Afghan Journalists’ Safety Committee (AJSC), Pamir Media Group of eastern Badakhshan province and a number of media people expressed grief over the death of Salarzai.

Javed Hamim Kakar, Pajhwok’s former editor, wrote: “I was saddened by the death of friend and journalist Khan Wali Salarzai, what an unreliable life! Salarzai was a tolerant, caring and loving person. May Allah give him a high place in heaven.”

Another reporter, Ajmal Zahir, wrote on Facebook: “Salarzai was a kind-hearted and friendly man. We pray to Allah to shower His blessings on the departed soul and grant the bereaved family the courage to bear the loss with fortitude..”
