JALALABAD (Pajhwok): Officials of domestic and foreign aid giving organizations on Tuesday held an emergency meeting with the deputy governor of eastern Nangarhar province on provision of aid tor floods-affected people.
Deputy governor Syed Ahmad Banuri briefed the meeting on life and financial losses to the people in Monday’s disaster and asked partner institutions to provide the affected families with necessary assistance.
He appreciated the efforts of aid organizations in the emergency situation.
Representatives of partner institutions pledged they would provide aid to the affected people.
Three dozen people, including five members of a family, lost their lives in heavy rains and storms in the province on Monday.
Public Health Director Maulvi Aminullah Sharif said about 40 bodies and 350 injured were taken to the main provincial and other governmental hospitals and 150 of them were currently under the treatment.
He assured the readiness of his department and asked partner institutions for cooperation in some areas.
