KABUL (Pajhwok): Da Afghanistan Bank (DAB) chief met UN Secretary-General’s representative for Afghanistan and said the central bank was committed to expanding financial services in all regions of the country so all citizens could benefit equally.
In a statement, the bank said DAB director Noor Ahmad Agha met with UN Secretary-General’s Special Representative for Afghanistan Rosa Otunbayeva on Wednesday.
“In this meeting, Noor Ahmad emphasized the importance of developing financial services in all parts of the country, DAB is committed to expanding financial services to all regions of the country so that all citizens can benefit from these services equally”.
The central bank has developed a regulation for granting small loans to help people expand their financial resources, he added.
Ahmad believed the attention of partner organizations could play an effective role in creating jobs and reducing unemployment.
Meanwhile, Otunbaiva promised cooperation to develop financial services and establish relations with leading Islamic banks, saying the banking sector was important for the people.
