KABUL (Pajhwok): US President Joe Biden has once again contracted corona virus, showing mild symptoms, the White House said on Thursday.

Biden, 81, was vaccinated and boosted after testing positive for Covid-19, the BBC quoted his press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre as saying.

After visiting supporters in Las Vegas and speaking at an event, the president scrapped a campaign speech on Wednesday night.

Facing mounting pressure to quit the presidential campaign because of his age, he has twice tested positive before for the illness.

Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer and House Majority Leader Hakeem Jefferies separately met Biden privately and voiced concerns that his candidacy could harm other races involving democrats.

Later, White House spokesman Andrew Bates s said: “The president told both leaders he is the nominee of the party, he plans to win, and looks forward to working with both of them to pass his 100 days agenda to help working families.”

The president planned to isolate at his home in Delaware while carrying out his duties, Jean-Pierre said.

Biden’s doctor Kevin O’Connor said the president had upper respiratory symptoms, including a runny nose and a cough. He has received his first dose of Paxlovid.

Taking to X, Biden wrotehe would “work to get the job done for the American people” while in recovery. He also thanked supporters and well-wishers.
