JALALABAD (Pajhwok): Officials of the Iranian Consul General in eastern Nangarhar province have pledged humanitarian support to the recent victims of flash floods in the province, a statement said on Thursday.

This was stated by the Iranian Consul Bahram Jamali during a meeting with Deputy Governor Mawlavi Saeed Ahmad Banawri.

The visiting dignitaries have expressed condolences for the losses incurred due to the recent flash floods and pledged humanitarian support to the victims.

Bahram Jamali said: “Afghanistan is our friend and Muslim neighbor, and on the basis of the Islamic brotherhood, if there is a problem and hardship for Muslims anywhere, we are obliged to cooperate with them.”

Deputy Governor Mawlavi Saeed Ahmad Banawri thanked the Iranian government for its support to the flash flood victims.

Torrential rain and storm hit around 4,000 houses in Nangarhar, destroyed 60 pylons and damaged telecommunication networks.
