KABUL (Pajhwok): Russia will focus on its own interests in the matter of recognition and exclusion of the Taliban movement from the list of prohibited organizations, says the top Russian diplomat in Kabul.
Russian Ambassador to Kabul Dmitry Zhirnov told TASS news agency that Afghan delegations attended in Petersburg International Economic Forum (SPIEF), the Kazan forum and other meetings.
He said Moscow’s interaction with representatives of the “Taliban” movement has become closer.
He added: “The work on the trips of the Afghan delegations is actively going on. Only in the first half of this year, the Minister of Higher Education, the Minister Commerce and Industry, head of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry, and the head of the National Olympic Committee visited Russia.”
He added Russia will focus on its own interests in the matter of recognition and exclusion of the Taliban movement (banned in the Russian Federation) from the list of prohibited organizations.
“The Taliban movement is not on the list of terrorists in every country in the region. In any case, each state proceeds from its own motives and the specifics of its relations with Afghanistan,” the diplomat said.
Earlier, Russian President Vladimir Putin called establishing ties with Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan as essential.
