KABUL (Pajhwok): The Ministry of Finance has increased customs duty on 11 imported items, according to a statement on Sunday.
This included imported potatoes, makroni, chips, building color, half processed bottles, paper handkerchiefs, carton, water cooler, clay-made dishes, raw medicine material and Altonsa
Mullah Abdul Qahir Haji Edress, head of the Customs and Revenue Department, said the decision has been made to support locally produced products, adding that the decision would be implemented after the finance ministry’s approval.
Import duty on ash, macaroni increased from 20 to 25 percent, potatoes, chips 30 to 50 percent, construction color 10 to 16 percent and half processed bottles 2.5 to 6.5 percent.
More over custom duty on tissue paper surged from 5 to 10 percent, on carton from 16 to 40 percent, shoes from five to 10 percent.
The finance ministry statement said that import custom duty on water cooler surged from five to 10 percent, clay dishes from five to 16 percent and Altonsa powder juice from 10 to 30 percent.
This comes that earlier; the MoF also increased custom duty on some items.
