MAZAR-I-SHARIF (Pajhwok): Newly constructed buildings for five schools and four seminaries costing 152 million afghanis have been inaugurated in northern Balkh province.
Acting Education Minister Habibullah Agha and local officials attended the inauguration ceremony. Agha said the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan (IEA) was committed to uniform development in every sector including education and reducing the distance between school and seminary.
Agha noted that currently 40,000 teacher posts laid vacant across the country, and efforts were underway to approve more vacancies and hire teachers to address this need.
Abdul Jalil Shahidkhel, Director of Balkh Education, said the buildings in Mazar-i-Sharif, Dehdadi district, Dawlatabad, and Marmal areas consumed 97.6 million afghanis.
Additionally, new buildings have been constructed for seminaries in Mazar-i-Sharif city, Marmal, Nahr-i-Shahi, and Balkh districts at a cost of 55 million afghanis, which are now operational.
Shahidkhel said funding for the educational facilities had been provided by the Ministry of Education and various institutions, and businessmen.
Mujeeb Rahman, a student, was happy that his school got a new building. However, he urged the government to prioritize constructing school buildings in areas that still lack adequate facilities.
