KHOST CITY (Pajhwok): As many as 42,000 bottles of low quality syrup were sent back to Pakistan after being imported to southeastern khost province, officials said on Tuesday.

According to a yet to be implemented procedure, such imports into the country will be completely prevented.

Meanwhile, Khost residents appreciated the government's action and called for punishing the importers of such things.

Jalal Darman, a resident, told Pajhwok in many shops and stores in the city sold low quality medicines and food items.

“A good way to prevent the low-quality and outdated medicines and foodstuffs from being imported to the country is to build a laboratory at the zero point”, Sher Jan another resident, suggested.

Sher Jan asked traders to import high quality items.

Other residents also insisted on punishing those involved in importing expired and substandard goods to the country.
