Ready to repair, maintain Afghanistan’s heritage sites: China

KABUL (Pajhwok): China’s deputy minister for information and culture has announced his country’s readiness to rehabilitate and maintain Afghanistan's historical monuments.

In a statement, the Ministry of Information and Culture said deputy minister Maulvi, Atiqullah Azizi met his Chinese counterpart Li Keng in Kabul on Wednesday.

They talked about Afghanistan-China relations in economic, political and cultural sectors, historical monuments, the National Museum, repairing historical monuments at Mas Aynak and other areas.

Azizi said: “Afghanistan and China have more than two thousand years of cultural and historical ties, Afghanistan has provided a better ground for reconstruction after five decades”.

He asked China to share its experience in preservation and maintenance of historical monuments.

Meanwhile, Li Ken said: “China is ready to work with the IEA to strengthen historical monuments, reconstruct and maintain heritage sites in Afghanistan”.
