MAIMANA (Pajhwok): A book reading competition titled Alhaq-ul-Yamin has kicked off in Maimana, the capital of northwestern Faryab province, an official said on Saturday.
Mawlavi Shamsuddin Mohammadi, head of the Information and Cultural Affairs Department told Pajhwok Afghan News 240 students of universities, schools and seminaries have participated in the competition.
Prices such as laptop, mobile phone, and cash would be given to the top eight book readers, representative of the Education Department, Ulema Council and Information Department would participate in the prize distribution ceremony.
Mohammadi said Alhaq-ul-Yamin book is written about Daesh, their propaganda, agenda and the unlawful activities the group is committed to do.
Most of the young people are busy with social networks and have stayed away from the culture of reading, but still a number of young people go to libraries and get the necessary information, which can be hopeful for the future.
Ahmad Zia Danish, the student of Darul Ulum seminari in Faryab province, said 20 days earlier he got the Haq-ul-Yamin book from the Information Department and today participated in the competition.
