KABUL (Pajhwok): Acting Minister of Refugees and Repatriation Khalil Rahman Haqqani has directed NGOs to control their administrative expenses, provide aid in exchange for work and focus more on addressing problems of the needy people.
He made the remarks at a meeting with United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) head Arfat Jamal here on Saturday, the Ministry of Refugee and Repatriation (MoRR) wrote on its X handle.
Jamal identified working together with MoRR, stepping up coordination with it and putting in place better procedures as his top priorities.
Coordination with host countries should be increased to solve refugees’ problems, he believed, calling for the provision of education, health and other facilities for them in the country.
For his part, Haqqani said as the issue of refugees was a humanitarian question, assistance should be extended to them in a similar manner.
He revealed MoRR had evolved a five-year strategic plan, covering the entire process of return, resettlement and permanent integration.
Haqqani emphasised on aid being given in exchange for work. He proposed should control their administrative expenses and focus on helping the needy.
