Arms smuggling bid to Afghanistan foiled at Torkham

KABUL (Pajhwok): Security forces have arrested a man after he smuggled military equipment to Afghanistan through Torkham crossing, the Ministry of Finance said on Monday.

The Ministry of Finance (MoF) wrote on X that Torkham customs officials foiled a bid to smuggle different types of military equipment that had been skillfully hidden in commercial goods.

MoF said the officials discovered a CZ rifle, 7 magazines, 3 krinkov rifles, 2 buttstock, 99 rounds and two binoculars.

The suspect and the recovered arms have been produced before judicial authorities for further investigation.

Security personnel have many times frustrated such attempts from the other side of the Duran Line to Afghanistan hidden in commercial goods.
