KABUL (Pajhwok): The deputy prime minister for political affairs on Monday flew to Tehran to take part in the swearing-in ceremony of Iran’s new president.
Masoud Pezeshkian is set to assume his office formally after the inaugural ceremony in Tehran on Tuesday. Scores of foreign leaders and diplomats are expected to attend.
Deputy Premier Maulvi Abdul Kabir, heading a high-level delegation, would also hold discussions with Iranian officials during his three-day visit, a statement from his office said.
The two sides will focus on bolstering political and economic links between the the neighbours besides addressing problems of the Afghan refugees living in Iran.
During the trip, Kabir may also meet leaders from a number of countries who are to attend the Iranian president’s oath-taking ceremony.
