SHIBERGHAN (Pajhwok): The Department of Commerce and Industry in Jawzjan Province has announced starting practical work soon on reviving the Kilift Port in Qarqin District.
Kilift Port, strategically located just 20 kilometers from the Turkmenistan border in Qarqin District, can prove a crucial hub for cross-border and transit trade.
Maulvi Niaz Mohammad Tawab, Director of Commerce and Industry in Jawzjan, told Pajhwok Afghan News that Kilift Port will join Torghundi Port in Herat and Aqina Port in Andkhoy, Faryab, as a major entry point for commercial goods from Central Asia via Turkmen ships.
He further explained that the survey had been completed for activating Kilift port, and the practical work for its reopening would be commenced soon.
The revival of Kilift Port is anticipated to boost regional trade and create substantial employment opportunities ---- a significant step in enhancing economic connectivity and development in the region.
