KABUL (Pajhwok): Construction work has been launched on seven school buildings at a cost of 118.4 million afghanis in northern Faryab province.
However, officials say, another 142 schools across the province are still operating in rented houses and under tents.
Education Director Mohammad Tahir Jawad told Pajhwok Afghan News the new buildings were being constructed for Nawabad Torpakhto primary school in Maimana, Hazrat Ali primary school in Pashtun Kot district, Badghis girls’ primary school, Azad Koh primary school in Almar district, Beriqa girls’ primary school in Qaisar district and Ashab-e-Kahf primary school in Chelhgazi district.
Funded by Norway, the projects would account for 118.4 million afghanis, he said.
He added each of the new building will have six classrooms, an administrative room, a laboratory, a well, a boundary wall, a solar power system and a playground.
Residents of the province, meanwhile, are happy over the construction of the new school buildings.
