IEA grieves Haniyeh’s martyrdom, praises his great sacrifice

KABUL (Pajhwok): The Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan (IEA) on Wednesday expressed grief over the killing of Hamas leader Ismail Haniyeh in Tehran.

Haniyeh was killed in an attack on his residence in Tehran on Wednesday, the Palestinian group announced.

Hamas blamed Israel for assassinating its political chief along with a bodyguard in the strike on the building where they were staying.

Haniyeh was in Iran’s capital to attend the inauguration ceremony of Iran’s President Masoud Pezeshkian on Tuesday, AL Jazeera reported.

The movement ruling Gaza said: “Brother, leader Ismail Haniyeh was killed in a treacherous Zionist raid on his residence in Tehran.”

In a statement, the IEA said: “With sadness we came to know that last night the leader of Islamic Movement (Hamas) Ismail Haniyeh was martyred in an attack in Tehran.”

Ismail Haniyeh was a Muslim, intelligent and resourceful Palestinian leader who made great sacrifices and fulfilled his promise in this way.

“Martyrdom is a great victory for a Muslim and a mujahid. He was successful and left a lesson of resistance, sacrifice, patience, tolerance, struggle and practical sacrifices to his followers," the statement read.

“Over his martyrdom, we offer our condolences to his grieving Mujahideen family, the leadership of Hamas, and the Mujahideen who fought against the Zionist invaders”.

The IEA said it considered its Islamic and humanitarian duty to defend the holy land of Palestine.. “We strongly condemn the atrocities, bombings and genocide of Palestinian Muslims by the aggressor Zionist regime. The martyrdom of this great mujahid is a great loss for the Islamic Ummah and the jihadi caravan,” the IEA added.

The caretaker government once again strongly urged the Islamic and Arab world to do their best to prevent the “Zionist aggression and atrocities” in the region.

According to the statement, "the continuation of the crimes of the Zionist regime" will undoubtedly make the region and the countries of the region more unstable, and the blame for any kind of consequences will be on Israel and its allies.
