PUL-I-ALAM (Pajhwok): The Borders and Tribal Affairs (BTA) Department said on Tuesday 26 major and minor feuds had been resolved in central Logar province.
Maulvi Mohammad Alam Rahbar, head of the department, told Pajhwok Afghan News scholars, tribal elders and philanthropists helped resolve the 26 enmities over the past three years.
He recalled most of the enmities had stemmed from land disputes, privacy issues, financial tiffs, vehicle accidents and quarrels during celebrations.
According to him, unity between tribes has been restored in the provincial capital and districts. Many disputes have been settled through mediation by scholars and tribal elders.
Rahbar said efforts were ongoing to resolve the remaining disputes between tribes and families in different districts in a peaceful manner.
Haji Hussainkhel, a tribal elder, confirmed to Pajhwok dozens of enmities between tribes and families had been ended in the past three years.
Most of the feuds resolved were more than 20 years old, he added.
A 25-year-old enmity between two families belonging to the Sulaimankhel tribe was resolved by local officials, scholars and tribal elders two weeks ago.
