GHAZNI CITY (Pajhwok): A first ever cricket academy has been built and inaugurated in southern Ghazni province, an official announced on Tuesday.

Abdul Wadud Paktiwal, Cricket Department head in the province, told Pajhwok Afghan News an outdoor cricket academy had been constructed by the Afghanistan Cricket Board (ACB) in Ghazni City by spending seven million afghanis.

He said all necessary facilities have been provided to players in the academy.

He added the academy has four pitches, a two-room apartment, a bathroom and a kitchen.

He said the ACB would also construct two more pitches and a dressing room for players in the academy in near future.

“The academy is built on half-an acre of land on a standard manner,” he explained.

He asked ACB to establish two or three more cricket academies in the province.

On the other hand, cricket players were also happy over the construction of the academy.

Ihsanullah, a player, told Pajhwok that he way happy he could practice now in a better atmosphere.

Hadithullah, another player, asked the ACB to construct a proper cricket stadium in the province.
