IEA, Chinese diplomats talk regional connectivity

KABUL (Pajhwok): Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan (IEA) Ambassador in Beijing Bilal Karimi has met China’s Special Representative for Afghanistan Yuxiao Yong, the government said on Tuesday.

Monday’s discussions between the diplomats focused on further developing political relations between China and Afghanistan, an IEA statement said.

Further strengthening the already cordial bilateral relations and enhancing economic connectivity through mutual interaction with neighbours and other regional countries were also discussed. “Topics such as trade, transit, consular matters and other bilateral issues were also addressed,” the statement added.

Both sides positively evaluated the current political and economic relations between China and Afghanistan and underlined the need for continued efforts in this regard.

In December 2023, China officially recognised Karimi as Afghanistan’s ambassador when he presented credentials to the Foreign Ministry in Beijing.
