GHAZNI CITY (Pajhwok): About 328 development projects costing 153 million afghanis have been completed and put into service in southern Ghazni province, officials said on Wednesday.

Rural Rehabilitation and Development Director Maulvi Mohammad Qasim Amini told Pajhwok Afghan News these projects had been funded by the United Nations Office for Project Services (UNOPS).

He said the projects included gravel grading of rural roads and construction of irrigation structures, canals, retaining walls, bridges and small dams.

Professional workers were paid 700 afghanis a day and non-professional workers 400 afghanis.

On the other hand, the residents of Nawar district are happy with the implementation of the projects and stressed basic construction of roads.

Hussain, a resident, told Pajhwok that previously the roads were in a rundown condition, but they now they had been graveled and streams, bridges and retaining walls were built.
