KUNDUZ CITY (Pajhwok): A 50-over inter-club cricket tournament featuring 30 teams kicked off in northern Kunduz province, on Saturday.
Imad Adullah Shinwari, Cricket Department head for Kunduz, told Pajhwok Afghan News the tournament was aimed at identifying best players for upcoming high-level domestic events.
He said 30 teams participating in the tournament were divided into five groups
On the other hand, a number of cricket players welcomed the tournament, which they considered essential to enhance their capacity.
Mohammad Faqir, a cricket player, said: “We have talented players in the province and this tournament will further help them improve their skills”.”
The inter-club tournament conducted every year is aimed at selecting best players for the provincial team.
