MAIMANA (Pajhwok): Two local residents spent 100,000 US dollars to complete construction work of a mosque in Maimana, the capital of northern Faryab province, an official said on Saturday.

Maulvi Amir Mohammad Haqqani, Hajj and Religious Affairs Director, said two residents Haji Abdullah and Haji Hamidullah constructed the mosque at their own expenses in the 7th police district of the provincial capital.

He praised the two residents for spending money in the path of Allah.

Meanwhile, Sheikh Hayatullah Halim, the head of the Faryab Ulema Council, also expressed his gratitude to funders of the mosque.

He asked businesspeople to return to the country and take part in the reconstruction of their homeland instead of investing in foreign countries.

Haji Hamidullah, one of the founders of the mosque, said Hazrat Aisha Mosque was built on an area of 1,300 square meters of land and consumed $100,000.

In addition to the main prayer hall, the structure includes an ablution area, and residential quarters for the imam and staff families, he explained.
