4.1m MT of goods transferred via railways last year

KABUL (Pajhwok): About 4.1 million metric tonnes of commercial goods were transferred via the country’s four railroads during the past one year, an official announced on Monday.

Mohammad Ashraf Haqshans, spokesman for Ministry of Water and Power (MoWP), said this while sharing information about the ministry’s one yeaer performance here.

He said the goods were transferred through Hairatan, Aqina, Torghundi and Khwaf- Herat railroads.

He added revenues of these transfers went to the Ministry of Finance (MoF) via a special system.

The ministry launched construction work on 109 projects in the country during the past one year and of them 85 have been completed.

He said MoPW also reconstructed 1,000 kilometres of roads in the country in a standard manner to expand trade and transit and foster economic growth and self-sufficiency of the country.
