KUNDUZ CITY (Pajhwok): About 350 drug addicts have been rehabilitated in the past five months in northern Kunduz province, officials said on Saturday.
Head of the 80-bed drug addicts’ rehabilitation center, Taza Khan Ahmadzai, told Pajhwok Afghan News the mentioned number of drug addicts were treated in three rehabilitated centers in the province.
“Since March 2024, 350 drug addicts were rehabilitated in three centers and about 683 addicts are hospitalized in these centers,” he added.
He asked aid organizations to cooperate in the treatment of drug addicts in these centers.
On the other hand, these drugs addicts were happy for their treatment and demanded the government provide them with jobs.
Noor Badshah, one of the rehabilitated addicts, said: “Alhamdulillah, after four months of treatment, I am in stable condition, I ask addicts to come and admit here to be treated and to start a normal life”.
Mohammad Asif, another rehabilitated addict, explained: “They collected because our families and the society hated us. It was because of the government’s compassion that we were treated”.
According to health officials, the number of drugs related cases has decreased significantly compared to previous years in the province.
