KABUL (Pajhwok): Deputy Prime Minister for Political Affairs Maulvi Abdul Kabir has called on regional countries to avoid provocative actions and statements that hamper peace, stability, and undermine the spirit of regional cooperation.
He made these remarks while addressing a gathering marking the 105th anniversary of independence at the National Radio Television compound.
He said: “Our neighboring and regional countries must be assured that no threat will pose to them from the soil of Afghanistan, we hope they feel the current situation of this country and refrain from such irresponsible activities and statements.”
He added the officials of the regional countries must refrain from provocative activities and statements, because such statement could damage the regional security, stability and destroy the spirit of cooperation.
Kabir said: “Military takeover and proxy wars halt the process of regional development and such phenomenon is in the interest of any country, we want Afghanistan to be the corridor of economic development for the regional countries instead of wars and tension.”
He added the government of the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan (IEA) is not supporting any conflict and as a legitimate regime has the responsibility to defend its people and soil and would not everything to perform its responsibility.
After a hundred years, the IEA drew its foreign policy according to the regional and international political situation and policies, IEA foreign policy was independent, economy oriented, based on mutual respect and bilateral interaction, he added.
Due to the geostrategic location of Afghanistan, the IEA tries use this location as a corridor for connection between the countries and cooperation among them.
Kabir added: “We want the take steady steps for the implementation of development projects in the region and work for the economic improvement and regional stability.”
It is pertinent to mention that Afghanistan gained its independence after the third Anglo-Afghan war which began on May 6, 1919, and ended in August 1919.
