KABUL (Pajhwok): The Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan (IEA) has banned UN Special Rapporteur Richard Bennett’s entry into the country.
Zabihullah Mujahid, chief spokesman for IEA, told DW the ban was imposed due to Bennett's "propaganda" against Afghanistan.
Mujahid accused the UN rapporteur of exaggerating minor issues, spreading misleading information and providing inaccurate Afghanistan-related reports to other organisations.
As a result, the IEA decided that Bennett would no longer be allowed to travel to Afghanistan, the spokesman said. Bennett has not yet responded to the ban.
Bennett has been vocal in criticising alleged human rights violations in Afghanistan, but IEA dismisses his statements as false and far from the ground realities.
