Salang highway closed for cargo trucks

KABUL (Pajhwok): The Salang highway that connects Kabul with northern provinces was shut for cargo trucks on Thursday due to reconstruction work, the Ministry of Public Works (MoPW) announced.

MoPW wrote on its X handle reconstruction work on three portions of Salang highway has been launched.

It said small vehicles could travel on the highway from both directions.

He said the key highway would stay shut until the completion of its reconstruction.

Earlier, the ministry had announced that the Salang highway would be shut on August 22 for traffic due to reconstruction work.
