KABUL (Pajhwok): The Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan (IEA) has appointed Abdul Ghafar Tirawi as its ambassador to Uzbekistan, says an official of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MoFA).
The newly-appointed ambassador was likely to embark on his diplomatic assignment soon in Tashkent, said Zakir Jalali, director of the third political department at MoFA.
IEA had reached understanding with some countries on pushing up the level of diplomatic relations, TOLOnews quoted Jalali as saying.
He added: “Over the past three years, IEA has proven itself as a stable and strong regime, and the region and the world are realising this truth...”
The countries seeking engagement with Afghanistan had their own interests, and so did IEA, commented Abdul Shakoor Dadras, a political analyst.
Badruddin Haqqani and Mohammad-ul-Rahman were respectively accepted as IEA ambassador to the United Arab Emirates and chargé d'affaires to Kazakhstan a few days back.
