GARDEZ (Pajhwok): A two-kilometer road is being constructed by local residents after raising eight million afghanis in southeastern Paktia province.
Jandad, a resident of Sanargi area of Samkani district, told Pajhwok Afghan News the residents had started concrete work by spending their own money. Jandad said two traders had funded the project that would cost eight million afghanis.
“This is our village road that connects us with the district center, it was destroyed by rains and people could not travel on it, but now it will be repaired,”: he added.
Meanwhile, Khwaja Din, another resident, told Pajhwok the road was damaged as a result of flash floods and caused problems to people.
On the other hand, government officials confirmed the construction of the road by the people.
Information and Culture Director Maulvi Sawab Jan Islamyar told Pajhwok a sub-way was being constructed in Sanargi area of Samkani district.
Recently, some people launched implementing projects and they were supported by the government, Islamyar explained.
Meanwhile, three residents of Karkin area of Mirzaki district built a road in their area at their own expense.
