GHAZNI CITY (Pajhwok): A joint wedding reception of 40 couples has been organised in southern Ghazni province in which relatives from hundreds of families participated.
The reception was organised at a private hall on Tuesday afternoon.
Qari Mohammad Ghos Kawish, the reception organizer, said the reception of 40 couples was held together because they were unable to organised it separately.
He said the wedding reception cost around 800,000 afs which was provided by the Saadat Welfare Foundation.
Kawesh said as part of assistance with vulnerable families the grooms were provided with all necessary items amid at eliminating moral corruption in society and lowering the high dowry tradition.
Rahmatullah, one of the grooms, said individuals who could not arrange the cost of wedding it is a fair option for them.
Another groom Masour told Pajhwok Afghan News he was engaged few years ago and was unable to provide the cost of his wedding reception.
Mawlavi Hamidullah Nisar, head of the Information and Cultural Affairs Department, told Pajhwok Afghan News, this type of wedding should be promoted to make wedding receptions affordable.
“We are trying to promote this culture together with the help of ulema.” he said.
