KABUL (Pajhwok): Uzbekistan is prepared to facilitate the transit of Afghanistan's fresh fruits to Central Asia.

On the sideline of the inauguration ceremony of the Termez International Trade Centre in Uzbekistan, Deputy Prime Minister for Economic Affairs Mullah Abdul Ghani Baradar met Uzbekistan’s Prime Minister Abdulla Aripov, a statement from Presidential Palace said.

Aripov emphasized that Afghanistan holds a significant position in Uzbekistan’s foreign policy and expressed Tashkent’s commitment to providing all necessary facilities for the export of Afghan fresh fruits to Central Asian countries via Uzbek territory.

Aripov also announced plans to extend the railway network from Hairatan to Herat and noted that technical teams would visit Afghanistan in September to initiate this project and start gas extraction.

Additionally, he highlighted Uzbekistan’s readiness to collaborate with the Islamic Emirate on constructing retaining walls along the Amu River's banks.

The Prime Minister assured that the agreements discussed during his recent visit to Kabul would be promptly implemented, with joint teams from both countries working closely on these initiatives.

Mullah Baradar said the IEA is ready to commence projects that will further strengthen and enhance relations between the two countries.
