KABUL (Pajhwok): The Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MoFA) has welcomed Kyrgyzstan’s decision to remove the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan (IEA) from the list of banned groups.
Abdul Qahar Balkhi, spokesman for MoFA, wrote on X: “Aligning with actions of other countries, the step taken by Kyrgyzstan signifies a growing political recognition of IEA on both national and international levels.
The ministry said the action meant removing obstacles to strengthening relations between the interim government and other countries.
It said: “MoFA welcomes the decision taken by the Republic of Kyrgyzstan to remove the name of Taliban movement, previously associated with IEA, from its list of proscribed groups.”
The government of Kyrgyzstan, including the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the country, has not officially commented about the development so far.
Earlier, Kazakhstan had also removed the interim government from its list of terrorist organisations.
