Afghan, Turkmen FMs meet at zero point, discuss joint projects

KABUL (Pajhwok): Afghanistan and Turkmenistan foreign ministers during a meeting at the zero point of the common border have discussed the latest preparations for the start of the TAPI gas pipeline extension, railway construction, electricity and optical fiber projects in Afghanistan, a statement said on Friday.

Hafiz Ahmad Zia Takal, under the leadership of deputy spokesperson for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MoFA), on his x.com handle wrote: “IEA acting Minister of Foreign Affairs Mawlavi Amir Khan Muttaqi and Deputy Minister of the Council of Ministers of Turkmenistan and Minister Foreign Affairs Rashid Meredov, the delegations of many institutions of the two countries visited the zero point of the common border between Afghanistan and Turkmenistan.”

He added that during this meeting, both sides discussed the final preparations for the start of the pipeline extension, railway construction, electricity and fiber optic projects in the territory of Afghanistan.

In this visit, the respective teams of both sides also reviewed the preparations for the commencement ceremony of the mentioned major projects in the near future.
