300 orphans enrolled in Helmand orphanage

LASHKARGAH (Pajhwok): Three hundreds orphans, including 100 girls, have been provided with education and training opportunity in the Imam Ahmad Ibn Habban Basti Orphanage Centre in Lashkargha, the capital of southern Helmand province, an official said on Saturday.

Mawlavi Rahimullah Mukhles, head of the Work and Social Affairs Department said: “Three hundred children have been allocated to the central orphanage school in Helmand, this included 200 boys and 100 girls, until now 80 girls have been registered while 20 are not, a total of 100 girls would be sent to the orphanage centre upon the registration completion.”

Mawlavi Habib Rasoul Umari, deputy head of the orphanage centre, said In addition to the standard learning environment, these children have been provided with a playground, suitable rooms for spending the night, and treatment facilities.

He added: “In this school, children are given modern and religious education, there is a pharmacy and doctors, good food is provided and they have beds.”

Some children enrolled in this orphanage centre were happy and said they had been provided all facilities.

Wakeel Ahmad, 13, whose father was killed in past conflict, said there is standard education and all other facilities, including food, is provided.

“Education and all other things are going well, the afternoon and evening food are good, we play here and stay here overnight.”

Abdul Razaq, 11, said: “We here at night and study, all our things are here and we are happy.”

It is pertinent to mention that due to the recent years of war in the country, many children have become homeless, and now they are engaged in hard and heavy work and are deprived of education.
