PARAKH (Pajhwok): The construction of a 300-kilometre road, linking Panjsher and Badakhshan provinces, continues apace, officials said on Saturday.
The officials added a 50-kilometre stretch of the road, being implemented by the Special Brigade of Panjsher, had been constructed.
A statement from the Panjsher governor’s office said constriction work on the 10-metre wide road got under way one month ago.
With the completion of the new road, Panjsher would be linked to Badakhshan’s Kiran wa Minjan, Yumgan, Jurm and Baharak districts, shortening the time for travel to Kabul by six hours, the statement explained.
Panjsher’s special brigade commander Hafiz Naqibullah Forqani said the construction and gravelling of the road would take three months to complete.
