KHOST CITY (Pajhwok): A month-long football tournament, featuring 24 teams, has concluded in southeastern Khost province, with Ministry of Interior team emerging victorious.
The tournament started a month ago and concluded on Friday in Hakim Taniwal Park.
Ministry of Interior team trounced Wahdad club in the final clash by 3-0, said Afghanistan Football Federation (AFF) chairman Mohammad Yousaf Kargar.
He said: “People’s interest with football has increased in the province during the last four years and we support football.”
Meanwhile, football players also considered holding such tournaments effective in the development of the game.
Rashid, a football player, urged AFF to organise more such tournaments in the province.
Local residents also view such tournaments important to embrace unity among youth.
Kabir Sarwan, an inhabitant of the province, said: “I came from a faraway area to watch the final match.”
