Ties between IEA, UN further improve: Mashao

KABUL (Pajhwok): Ties between the United Nations and the government of the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan (IEA) have improved, a UN official said on Thursday.

The Ministry of Interior wrote in its X handle that Acting Interior Minister Khalifa Sirajuddin Haqqani met with Deputy Secretary General of the UN Jill Mashao and UNAMA’s Deputy Special Representative and Resident Coordinator in Afghanistan Indrika Ratwatte in Kabul.

During this meeting, Jill Mashao said that relations between the IEA and the UN had improved.

Mashao thanked the IEA for ensuring security of UN officials and discussed the continuation of humanitarian assistance to deserving people in Afghanistan.

Sirajuddin Haqqani assured the UN delegation comprehensive security allover the country and said not only UN officials, but officials every other humanitarian organization could continue their activities with confidence.
