Convict flogged publicly in Balkh on sodomy charge

MAZAR-I-SHARIF (Pajhwok): A convict has been flogged publicly by the primary court in Dehdadi district of northern Balkh province.

The primary court of Dehdadi district said in a press statement that the convict, accused of sodomy, was lashed publicly in the yard of primary court after the decision of all three primary, appeal and supreme courts.

The punishment was carried out while officials of appeal court, vice and virtue department, Dehdadi district and a number of ordinary people were present at the scene.

The convict was wiped 35 lashes, the press statement added.
