Bid to smuggle sheep to Pakistan thwarted in Nangarhar

JALALABAD (Pajhwok): Security forces thwarted an attempt to smuggle dozens of sheep to Pakistan through the Durand Line in eastern Nangarhar province, an official said on Tuesday.

Police spokesman Hafiz Abdul Basir Zabuli told Pajhwok Afghan News police caught 96 sheep being transported to Chamtali area of Khogyani district, with plans to cross into Pakistan via Durand Line.

He said security forces also detained five people in connection with the smuggling bid and. they are under investigation and will be produced before judges t.

In the last few years, the prices of small animals (sheep and goats) have increased in Pakistan, due to which traders are trying to smuggle animals from Afghanistan.
