KABUL (Pajhwok): The Iranian Revolutionary Guards Corps has arrested 12 people for cooperating with Israel and planning to foment insecurity in the country.
The Iranian Students News Agency (ISNA) quoted the public relations office of the entire army as saying the arrests had been made in six different provinces of Iran.
“Following the scandalous failure of the Zionist regime and its Western and European supporters, especially the US, in achieving their sinister goals against the people of Gaza and Lebanon, the criminal ringleaders of this fake and racist regime are trying to spread a crisis...
“They have entered Iran’s territory and have put the design of a series of anti-security measures in our country on their agenda”: the report added.
Tensions in the Middle East rose after thousands of Hezbollah “pagers” exploded across Lebanon last week. Hezbollah and Iran have blamed Israel for the explosions.
At least 37 people were killed and nearly 3,000 others injured as a result of two waves of detonations on Tuesday and Wednesday.
