FEROZKOH (Pajhwok): The construction of two check dams has been completed in western Ghor province, an official said on Tuesday.
The two dams have the capacity of storing 27,000 cubic meters of water and 10,000 families would benefit.
Ramazan Faez, the River Zone Department spokesperson, said: “As part of the development work two construction projects of Check dams in "Tahab village" Tulk district and "Norak village" Pasaband completed and put into operation.”
He added that the total cost of these two projects is more than 13.5 million afs and was paid from the budget of the Ministry of Energy and Water.
He said the project of construction of Chakdam "Tahab village" of Tulak district has a storage capacity of 12000 cubic meters of water and Chakdam of "Noorak village" district has a storage capacity of 15000 cubic meters of water, which will benefit more than 10 thousand families.
He said these projects can reduce the risks of flooding and are effective in storing seasonal water and irrigating agricultural lands.
The construction of Check dams helped create work opportunities for the masses.
