KABUL (Pajhwok): The Acting Minister of Public Health has talked with UN representative about expanding health services, training specialists, establishing health centers in remote areas, preventing infectious diseases, polio vaccination and called for continued assistance.
Ministry of Public Health wrote on its X platform acting minister Maulvi Noor Jalal Jalali met online with WHO Zonal Director Mrs. Hanan Al-Balkhi, WHO’s Director Edwin Siniza Salvador and eastern Mediterranean Zonal Director Dr. Hamid Jafari (polio eradication).
In this meeting, they talked about expansion of health services, the capacity building of health workers, training of specialists in various health fields, establishment of health centers in remote areas, control and prevention of sari diseases, better implementation of polio vaccine and other important issues, the source added.
According to MoPH, Jalali asked for long-term aid and cooperation and considered the aid an important and necessary step to improve the health system.
Mrs. Hanan Al-Balkhi emphasized the need for continued efforts in this regard to attract international aid to Afghanistan’s health sector.
He explained strengthening Afghanistan’s health system was an important step, saying more work was needed and promised to continue working with his colleagues in this area.
