Varsity student drowns in Badakhshan river

FAIZABAD (Pajhwok): A university student drowned while swimming in the Kokcha River in northeastern Badakhshan province, an official said on Wednesday.

Hikmatullah Mohammadi, an official from the Information and Culture Department, said the victim was a first-year Economics student at the Badakhshan University and a resident of Nangarhar province.

He drowned on Tuesday while swimming in the Kokcha River near Faizabad. Having no swimming skills, he was unable to save himself.

Mohammadi added that the young man's body had been recovered from the water and sent to his hometown.
